Passenger in vehicle arrested on meth charge in Colp

COLP, Ill. (KBSI) – A man who was a passenger in a vehicle faces a possession of methamphetamine charge after the vehicle he was in was pulled over for traffic violations in Colp.

Dallas A. Woodward faces a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies saw a vehicle traveling eastbound on Andrew Springs Road in Colp around 12:25 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3 when the driver committed multiple violations, according to deputies with the sheriff’s office.

The deputies conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Ricky L. Monteith.

While speaking with Monteith, deputies saw oodward in the passenger seat. Woodward had an active Williamson County arrest warrant for possession of methamphetamine.

Woodward was arrested. Williamson County Sheriff’s Office K9 “Roxy” was deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. K9 “Roxy” alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle found methamphetamine on the rear floorboard, according to the sheriff’s deputies.

Woodward was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail.
