No charges filed after 2 dogs found dead, 4 others without food water at Cape Girardeau home

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – No charges have been filed after Cape Girardeau police found two dogs dead and multiple other dogs without food or water.

Officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Goodhope Street in reference to animal neglect on Monday, January 15 at 10 a.m.

Officers arrived on scene and saw several dog kennels outside the residence along with two dogs with no food or water.

Officers found two dogs dead in the kennels also with no food or water available.

At the time the officers were on scene the air temperature was approximately seven degrees.

Officers heard other dogs inside the home and due to the condition of the dogs outside, officers entered the home.

Once inside, officers found four more dogs along with dog feces throughout the home.

Officers found two of the dogs wandering inside and two of the dogs inside cages.

Police say none of the dogs had access to food or water. There was no heat on inside the home, according to police.

All of the dogs were turned over to the Humane Society.

This is an ongoing investigation.
