Man facing charges for failing to register as sex offender in Herrin

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man was arrested and faces a charge for failing to register as a sex offender.

Jerry R. Dawson, 34, faces a charge of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received information on January 19 that a sexual predator registered  in Herrin may be living in Franklin County in violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Deputies investigated, found Dawson and interviewed him.

He was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Jail.
