Mount Vernon man facing drug charges after search of home

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – A Mount Vernon man drug charges after police searched a home.
Oscar J. Montgomery, 39, faces charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division and Mt. Vernon Police Detectives Division served a knock and announce search warrant at 1015 South 7th Street in Mt. Vernon around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5.
The search warrant was secured after detectives determined controlled substances were being sold from the home.
Detectives found quantities of cocaine, packaging materials and weighing scales.
Montgomery, the primary resident, was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center.
At the time of this arrest, Montgomery was on federal supervised release for a previous conviction on federal charges for delivery of controlled substances.
Montgomery was issued citations for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and released.
A report documenting the arrest was forwarded to the United States Probation Office. A warrant for parole violation was issued.
On Tuesday, January 16, an officer on patrol saw Montgomery driving a vehicle in the area of 9th and Perkins. The officer knew Montgomery was wanted on a federal warrant and stopped him.
Montgomery was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center where he was held with no bond.
