2 arrested after shooting in Dexter Walmart parking lot

DEXTER, Mo. (KBSI) – Two people were arrested after a shooting in the parking lot of a grocery store in Dexter.

Officers with the Dexter Police Department responded to the Walmart Supercenter located at 2025 W. Business Highway 60 at 9:09 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30.

Police were given a description of the suspect vehicle and stopped the car on Specialty Drive near Business Hwy. 60.

Two suspects were arrested. A firearm was recovered.

Two vehicles were parked on the east side of the Walmart parking. People from one vehicle approached the other. After they returned to their vehicle and while driviner away, the driver of the parked vehicles got out, pulled a handgun and fired at the other vehicle, according to Chief of Police Hank Trout.

Both drivers then left the area.

The vehicle that was shot at was found in Hayti. No one was inside the vehicle. It will be taken back to the Dexter Police Department.

The suspects are being held at the Dexter Police Department pending the filing of formal charges.
