Perry County dispatch misses two calls

PERRY COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI)- Sheriff Jason Klaus with the Perry County Sheriff’s Department says two phone calls to dispatch (911) were missed on Friday, February 16th, 2024.
“We were notified that somebody called 911 and we did not answer it, and we obviously take that very seriously.” Klaus says dispatchers noticed the problem and the department immediately investigated to figure out on who’s end the problem was coming from.
“We went ahead and made the appropriate calls to AT&T, and there’s a company called Bright Speed, and also to the 911 Public Service Commission to let them know about it. We also received an E-mail from them advising that this wasn’t just our issue, but there was other 911 centers in the state experiencing the same thing.” Klaus addresses that everything is working fine on their end, but they are still waiting for a reply from the telephone company.
Klaus adds that if anyone is having trouble getting connected to the 911 center, to call the Sheriff’s Department landline at 573-547-4576.
