Multiple fire crews fight fire in West Frankfort

WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (KBSI) – The State Fire Marshal is investigating after a fire in West Frankfort Monday morning.
The West Frankfort Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at 607 S. Sunnyslope Street at 5:16 a.m. on Monday, February 26.
Firefighters found a 30 foot by 50 foot home with fire on the main floor and through the attic.
Exposed homes to the north and south were the firefighter’s first priority.
Mutual aid was called to help due to limited water supply and due to the advanced progression of the fire.
The fire spread to a vacant building to the north and damaged a home to the south.
An occupied home to the south was saved with damage to the exterior.
Firefighters from Benton, Herrin, Johnston City, Ziegler, Buckner, Williamson County Fire Department and Abbott AMR responded to the scene.
One firefighter had minor burns on the hand. That firefighter was treated and released at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
