1 dead, 3 suspects face charges after shooting near Cape Girardeau pharmacy

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – One person is dead, another is injured and two of three suspects are in custody after a shooting in Cape Girardeau Tuesday.
The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad identified the victims as a 17-year-old girl, a 53-year-old man has non-life threatening injuries.
The Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office formally charged Tre’marion Jones, 20, of Cape Girardeau with Class A felony murder in the first degree, three counts of felony armed criminal action, Class A felony of unlawful use of a weapon, Class A felony assault in the first degree and Class E felony of resisting an arrest. Jones is being held on a no-bond warrant.
The Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office formally charged Zhamius Smith, 20, of Caruthersville, MO with Class E felony of hindering prosecution and Class E felony of resisting a lawful stop. Smith is currently being held with a no-bond warrant.
The Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office formally charged Yaunique Cain, 21, of Cape Girardeau with Class E felony of tampering with physical evidence. Cain is currently being held with a no-bond warrant.

The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad was activated, but has since disbanded after the three arrests.
Cape Girardeau police say it happened near 2161 William near the pharmacy. The road was blocked at Kingshighway.
Cape Girardeau Police Officer Bobby Newton says the victims were taken to an area hospital.
Around 8 p.m. officers found a vehicle believed to be occupied by the suspect. Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle near Woodbine and Themis. A police chase began. After a short chase the driver stopped the vehicle in the road near Pindwood and Whitener. Police say three people ran from the vehicle.

Police are talking to witnesses. Witnesses at the scene say the hear what sounded like six gunfire shots.
A witness says a fight happened in the parking lot of CVS. People started shooting and a stray bullet was shot into the parking lot of Rhodes gas station and shot someone.
The nearby University School for Young Children is no longer on lockdown. The lockdown has been lifted.
Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair says there is no danger to the public.
