Passenger in vehicle pulled over for traffic violation facing drug charge

HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) – A passenger in a vehicle pulled over for a traffic violation faces a drug charge.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies saw a driver commit a traffic violation near Oak and 22nd streets in Herrin on March 3 at 1:08 a.m.

The deputies conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, a K9 arrived and conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found multiple forms of illegal controlled substances including Hydrocodone, Clonazepam, Alprazolam and Diazepam.

Deputies say the narcotics belonged to passenger Karla R. Jones.

Karla R. Jones faces a charge of possession of controlled substance.

She was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
