Missing man found dead in wooded area of Carbondale
CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A missing man who many people volunteered to search for was found dead in Carbondale on Thursday.
Linell Gaston was found by detectives in a wooded area near the 1200 block of South Wall Street during a search that included family, community members, Carbondale City staff and numerous emergency service agencies.
The investigation into the cause of death is active and ongoing.
“On behalf of the City of Carbondale, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones as they cope with this tragic loss. We will continue to work diligently on this investigation and ask anyone that may have information to contact the Carbondale Police Department,” said Chief of Police and Acting City Manager Stan Reno.
Carbondale police, city staff and family member of a missing person will search various locations in Carbondale Thursday, April 4 for a missing man.
Linell Gaston, 27 of Carbondale, was last seen in the 1200 block of South Wall Street on March 25.
