Perryville kicks off weekend long eclipse celebration
PERRYVILLE Mo. (KBSI) – “We have so many out of town guests, so many families, so we wanted to add some really fun, different things for them to do.”
As the date for the solar eclipse comes closer, many towns, like Perryville, are within the path of totality and have started their festivities early.
Carisa Stark, owner of The Warehouse Entertainment District say the eclipse has garnered so much attraction to the community. “We have so many people from out of town, I also have air bnb’s in town that have been sold out for a year. There’s not a place to stay.”
She says it benefits the community because it gives visitors a chance to see what the town is all about. “The entire community has come together with tourism and the Chamber of Commerce to create different events for everybody to enjoy. It’s definitely beneficial for all the businesses. All the restaurants are full, all of the shops are experiencing shoppers, and the grocery stores are busy.” Said Stark
Those who visit Perryville can expect many activities throughout the weekend into Monday. With a couple of them being a silent disco party inside The Warehouse, and a balloon glow show.
Jennifer Husmann is a visitor who says she arrived for the foam party and believes the celebration is one that her daughter won’t forget.
“We’re very excited, it is my daughter’s first time to view the eclipse, and she’s very excited about all the activates that we’ve been doing this weekend.” Said Husmann.
According to Stark, watch parties will be happening all over on Monday, including at the airport, where over 70 airplanes will be flying over to observe the totality on April 8.
