Sheriff’s deputies looking for driver after 1 dead in hit and run in Bluford, IL

BLUFORD, Ill. (KBSI) – Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the driver of a dark sedan that left the scene of a deadly crash Sunday night in Bluford, Illinois.
Deputies responded to a report of an ATV involved in a crash with a vehicle at the intersection of N. Markham Lane and E. Short Street around 8:45 p.m.
The crash involved a Kawasaki ATV that was traveling westbound on E. Short Street and a 2018 Chevy SUV traveling northbound on N. Markham Lane.
Deputies say the driver of the ATV, identified as 34-year-old Daniel W. Montgomery of Bonnie, was ejected from the ATV and landed in the southbound lane of N. Markham Lane.
Seconds later, a third vehicle, described by witnesses as a dark sedan, traveling south on N. Markham Lane, struck Montgomery and continued south out of the area.
Montgomery was declared dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse.
The sheriff’s office detective division and Illinois State Police troopers responded to take over the death investigation.
Bluford Fire, Jefferson County Fire Protection District and Litton Ambulance responded to the scene as well.
Authorities are not releasing any other details due to the ongoing death investigation.
Sheriff’s deputies ask for any information from the public to help identify the dark sedan that left the scene after striking Montgomery.
