Cape County Public Health Department launches new app
CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape County Public Health Department, looking for new ways of keeping the public informed, recently launched a new app.
Autumn Grim is the Director for the Health Department. She says the new app will have everything you’re looking for when it comes to information.
“It was really conceived after covid because it became very clear to us during covid that we needed an effective way to communicate,” said Grim.
Grim explains that using traditional methods such as faxes or emails made communication harder for the department in alerting the public to any warnings or updates.
Advantages to the app allow the user to receive push notifications.
“To notify a lot of people all at once, so that is really kind of the thought process as far as why we wanted to develop the app,” she said.
Grim adds that users will be able to find additional information provided on the app they may not find on the website such as, health alerts or upcoming clinic information and ways to register for offsite clinics.
“Anything that’s pertinent to public health, we’re going to have it on our app,” she said.
Grim adds that in the future the app will become more personal to the user with the ability to only get notifications the user wishes to see.
