Veteran town hall scheduled for May 6 in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will host an informational town hall event May 6 at its Cape Girardeau VA Health Care Center.
It is located at 711 Mount Auburn Road in Cape.
Information booths and outreach opportunities with key program staff members will kick off at 4 p.m.
A program with speakers focusing on several aspects of VA health care will begin at 5 p.m.
The event is open to all veterans, whether enrolled in VA health care or not.
“We invite all area Veterans to join us for this event,” said Interim Medical Center Director James Warren. “There are many VA programs and services available to those who have served, but unfortunately, many times Veterans aren’t aware of them. With this event, we hope to spread the word about these opportunities.”
Outreach booths will cover topics like home telehealth, caregiver support, whole health, enrollment and eligibility, and decedent affairs will be available, and local Veteran Service Organizations will have representatives on hand.
There will also be a team from the Veterans Benefits Administration available, along with staff from VA’s Fisher House program.
A question-and-answer session will be held during the event to give veterans the chance to offer input and have their questions answered by subject-matter experts.
“This will be a great opportunity to tell us about what we’re doing well, and what we can improve upon,” said Warren.
