Bertrand man arrested after 1 injured in Cape Girardeau shooting

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – One man faces charges a shooting in Cape Girardeau Tuesday morning.

Jacob Sipp, 22, of Bertrand is charged with Class A felony of assault in the first degree and felony armed criminal action.

Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the 1000-block of N. Spanish Street in reference to shots fired at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23.

Officers arrived on scene and saw a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.

They provided care for the victim until EMS arrived on scene.

Officers located and arrested Sipp in the area of the shooting.

He was taken to the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Police say at the time there appears to be no further threat to the public.
