Cape Chamber of Commerce to hold Young Professionals Summit

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Chamber of Commerce will be presenting its annual Young Professionals Summit on April 26.

“It’s going to be a day of different speaker’s different topics we’ll cover and a lot of networking,” said Communications and Marketing Specialist Maggie Piper. “I am super excited for this event. This is actually a sellout event. So, we’re going to have 128 plus people ready to learn and grow. And network with one another.”

Piper encourages all young professionals in the area to join in on the connection. Whether they’re an innovator, or dreamer, she says this transformative event is perfect.

Many city leaders will be of attendance, including Valdis Zalite, Director of Trio Programs at Southeast Missouri State University, who will be bringing inspiration to the conference as the keynote speaker.

“They’re interested in just getting to know more people in the area professionally and also anyone that’s interested in developing their skills and career goals.” Said Piper.

Other guest speakers, who will be a part of the panel, include Nate Gautier, Whitney Quick and John Spear.

“The panel I’m a part of is about community involvement,” said Guest Panelist John Spear.

Spear is big on community engagement. He says the conference is a good investment to the youth.

“We’re hoping that a lot of the young professionals that are a part of this summit will take away some of the pointers and tips and experience that myself and the other panelists have to share with them as far as the history and community involvement particular to the topic that we’re speaking on,” said Spear.

The event will be located at Scout Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include coffee breakfast and lunch.
