2 vehicle crash shuts down highway in Perry County: 2 seriously injured

PERRY COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI)- Two people have been seriously injured in a two vehicle, head on crash in Perry County.

The crash happened on Highway 51 near County Road 206, near the Air Evac base.

According to the State Highway Patrol, an SUV was traveling south and crossed the center line at the same time the other vehicle was traveling north.

The driver tried to avoid the SUV and drove off the right side of the roadway, but the two vehicles crashed head on.

Both drivers were flown to an area St. Louis hospital with serious injuries, the driver of the SUV is identified as 62-year-old Mary K. Douglas, of Perryville, and the driver of the car, 30-year-old Dakota S. Queen, of Fredericktown.

Perry County Sheriff’s Department says both lanes of Highway 51 were closed because of the crash.
