Registered sex offender arrested after parents say he approached kids at Cape Girardeau park

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau police arrested a man who is a registered sex offender accused of repeatedly approaching children in a playground.
John Daniel Blackmon, 41, faces a charge of sex offender physically present/loiter within 500 feet of park.
Cape Girardeau police responded to a park in Cape Girardeau in reference to Blackmon approaching children.
One of the parents told police that Blackmon was walking toward children while they were playing kickball. Parents stopped him from progressing toward the children and made him walk away four times, according to the probable cause statement.
A witness also told police that while Blackmon stared at the children, “he would grab his genitals through his clothing.”
Police arrested him while he was within view of the children.
