Man facing several charges after shots fire in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces firearms charges after police responded to a report of shots fired late Sunday night.

Daniel N. Drew, 30, faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

Mt. Vernon police officers and Illinois State Police troopers were dispatched to the 200 block of Grant Street at 10:35 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 for a report of gunshots fired.

Officers determined no one had been injured.

As officers took initial information from the victim and witnesses, other officers searched the area for the suspect.

Officers found Drew in the area and arrested him.

They say they also located video of the incident and the firearm used.

Drew was taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center.
