2 face charges after Benton, MO man dies in golf cart crash in Bollinger County

BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Two face charges after a Benton, Mo. man died after he was struck by a golf cart in Bollinger County on Sunday.

Emmett B. Gage, 47, of Oran faces charges of felong driving while intoxicated resulting in death of another and careless and imprudent driving resulting in crash.

Shayn R. Mabury, 40, of Benton, Mo. faces charges of felony driving while intoxicated resulting in death of another and careless and imprudent driving resulting in crash.

Patrick L. Shelton, 37, was a passenger in a 2006 Club Car golf cart.

Another golf cart struck the golf cart Shelton was in. He was ejected and struck by another golf cart.

The crash happened on Highway 34 west of Route Y abougt 12 miles west of Marble Hill at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Shelton was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Anna Delanis at 12:57 a.m.

This is the 24th deadly crash in 2024 for Troop E.
