2 die in crash near Essex

ESSEX, Mo. (KBSI) – Two people died in a crash Thursday in Stoddard County.

Chance D. Winkler, 19, of Neosho, Mo. was driving a 2023 Ford Fusion. He struck the rear of a 2015 Fiat 500 driven by Sheila K. Mosley, 61, of Sikeston, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Both vehicles ran off the right side of the road. It happened on US60 about three miles east of Essex on May 30 around 9:30 p.m.

Mosley and a passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

Sheila K. Mosley and Gerald K. Mosley, 81, of Sikeston were pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham at 10:20 p.m.

Winkler had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
