Amtrak train and truck collide north of Carbondale
JACKSON COUNTY Ill. (KBSI) – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a crash involving a semi-truck and a train on Highway 51, south of De Soto on June 5.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a semi-truck was driving west bound on Helm Rd., crossing the railroad tracks. When the semi-truck crossed the railroad tracks, the front of the semi was struck by a south bound Amtrak train.
The occupant of the truck was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, the name of the individual is being withheld. No injuries to the passengers of Amtrak train were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
