Mt. Vernon man facing sexual assault of child, possession of child porn charges

WOODLAWN, Ill. (KBSI) – A Mt. Vernon man faces sexual assault of a child and possession of child porn charges.

Zachary K. Taylor, 37, of Mt. Vernon faces charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in Woodlawn on March 27 for a report of suspected child abuse involving a 4-year-old child.

Deputies and detectives responded to investigate the allegations made in the complaint. The investigation involved multiple interviews. That led to search warrants for the suspect’s home at 319 Harrison Street in Mt. Vernon which was served on April 9.

A search warrant on electronic devices was served on April 9 and 11 respectively.

After evidence was collected, the investigation findings were forwarded to the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.

On June 5, an arrest warrant was issued for Taylor.

Taylor was found at his work on June 6.

He was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
