New Madrid County Sheriff Bud Cooper resigns
NEW MADRID Mo. (KBSI) – Sheriff Bud Cooper has resigned on June 10 due to health issues.
According to Cooper, the resignation is effective immediately.
Cooper worked for nearly 30 years for the Missouri State Highway Patrol before becoming sheriff in 2020.
He says Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams will be the interim sheriff until after the 2024 election.
