Mulkeytown man facing aggravated cruelty of animals, aggravated assault charges

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A Mulkeytown man faces charges after sheriff’s deputies were called about a fight in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence report at a home in rural Franklin County.

Dispatchers received information of a possible confrontation involving a female juvenile and another family member.

The initial report was that the confrontation was about an adult family member who killed the child’s dog. The suspect was also accused of having a knife.

Sheriff Kyle Bacon says after the confrontation Edwards got the dog from his year, took it inside and hung it with a chain from a ceiling rafter until the dog died.

Frederick M. Edwards, 36, of Mulkeytown faces charges of aggravated cruelty of animals (Class 4 felony) and aggravated assault.

He was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
