5 injured in shooting in Charleston

CHARLESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Five people are injured after a shooting in Charleston early Monday morning.

On July 1 around 12:30 a.m., Charleston Department of Public Safety officers investigated a shooting reported near the intersection of Vine and Sy Williams Streets.

Initial reports were that six people had been shot. None with life threatening injuries, as well as some vehicles. However, an investigation determined that the actual number of victims was five.

The initial investigation indicated several of the victims might have been caught in the crossfire of other people shooting.

Officers worked with area agencies to see if the shooting is related to any other recent shootings in the area.
