6 year old holds lemonade stand to raise money for McCracken County Humane Society
PADUCHA Ky. (KBSI) – A six year old boy, Eli Farris set up a lemonade stand to help support the local pets at the McCracken County Humane Society and Mcgansters in Paducah.
“Yesterday I had a lemonade stand all the money went to Mcgansters and McCracken County Humane Society and when we had the lemonade stand, we got over a thousand dollars, eighteen hundred,” said Eli.
Eli is a boy with a love for pets. He saw a need and wanted to pay it forward. Eli has hosted a lemonade stand in the past. He plans for this to be an annual event in the future to help further organizations.
“We decided to do this once a year so. Last time we done it up at Durbins Station on Loan Oak Road and raised 600 bucks. Last year we gave it all to the Humane Society and this year we also gave it to Mcgansters. Last year we raised $600 and this year we tripled it. Next year we are going to try and get 2,000.”
Meosha Dixon is an employee at the McCracken Pet Humane Society. She says she is grateful and she feels Eli’s actions are inspiring, especially at a time when she says the shelter is at full capacity.
“I personally feel amazed that children can do such wonderful things for us and the community in general,” said Dixon. “Us, as a facility, we’re also thankful and appreciative for these children and the community in general.”
