1 lane of Interstate 57 reopened, northbound lanes closed in Franklin County after semi crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – One lane of Interstate 57 is back open after a truck tractor semi-trailer rollover crash in Franklin County. The northbound lanes between West Frankfort (Exit 65) and Benton (Exit 71) will remain closed.
The semi truck was carrying containers of acetylene gas.
Illinois State Police Troop 10 responded to a property damage only, truck tractor semi-trailer, rollover crash at 4:56 a.m. on Friday, July 5. It happened on I-57 northbound at the Yellow Banks Road Overpass between West Frankfort and Benton near the 58 mile marker.
The semi contains a flammable gas which caused authorites to shut down both north and southbound Interstate 57 and Yellow Banks Road out of an abundance of caution.
Crews are on scene still working to mitigate the situation.
Travelers are to continue to expect delays.
Yellowbanks Road crossing I-57 will continue to remain closed.
There is no active threat to the surrounding area or public at this time.
IDOT has marked detours in place.
