Marion, IL woman accused of writing checks to bad checks

ORIENT, Ill. (KBSI) – A Marion, Illinois woman faces a charge after authorities say she wrote checks with insufficient funds.
Nicole D. Keen, 44, of Marion faces a charge of deceptive practice.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the American Legion Post #1961 in Orient on June 19.
The complaint alleged that Keen had written numerous checks in the amount $1,040 to the Orient American Legion. Each of the checks were returned as a result of insufficient funds.
Deputies collected information and submitted the case to the Franklin County States Attorney’s Office.
An arrest warrant was issued for Keen.
Keen was located and arrested on July 8.
At the time of her arrest, Keen was on pretrial release from a previous arrest that occurred in September of 2023.
Based on the new charge, Keen’s pretrial release was revoked.
She remained in the Franklin County Jail.
