Van Buren, Mo. (KBSI) – The second annual float to feed event will be held at the landing in Van Buren.

For the second year in a row The Landing is donating 10% of all proceeds they receive on July 20th to the Semo food bank.

Last year they raised $2,000 to help feed those in need. The Landing offers different tubes, canoes and boats you can rent for the day to enjoy a day of floating down Current River. The event was originally scheduled for this Saturday July 13 but was rescheduled to July 20th do to weather. Heather Collier is the Donor Relations and Communications Manager at SEMO food bank. She shares why you should be apart of “float to feed”.

“We are serving 80 individuals each month across 16 counties. High groceries prices right now are making it really hard for a lot of our neighbors, working families, seniors on fixed incomes. Summers a really hard time for families with children because they are having to provide three meals a day and during the school year a lot of children are able to relay on nutritious food for breakfast and lunch there. So, the fact that the landing has stepped up for the second year in a row and said “we know it’s a hard time and we want to help”. We appreciate that. And if you want to enjoy something beautiful in Southeast Missouri you just have to go enjoy a day with family and friends on the river and you’ll be helping your neighbors.”
