World Series In Branson Mo.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Southern Missouri Revelers baseball team prepares to play at the Branson World Series tournament in two short weeks, their 18u team will look to shock the tournament and win the series.

Owner and head coach of the Revelers Wade Amelung told Fox23 that the opportunity to play on a stage like this is an “opportunity of a lifetime” saying that, “every chance you can take to get to the world series and take a group of young men of the caliber that we have on the team it’s special.”

Along with Amelung, players on the 18u team are excited for the chance to play in Branson Mo Dierks Simmons says that “It means a lot, its probably one of the biggest games I’ve ever been a part of biggest tournament, so its going to be a chance of a life time.”

Preparation for this tournament go beyond just the practice field as Amelung and his team are fundraising for the tournament as the costs come out of their own pockets. Coach Amelung says that he is “looking forward to the world series, but the hardest thing is is the fun raising.” Amelung went onto say that “the players have been working hard over the last month, we’re doing car washes,  we got a couple coming up just not this Saturday but week from this Saturday in Sikeston and in Jackson.” apart from car washes, Amelung says that “we’re doing a raffle right now, the boys are not just asking for donations and or sponsors they’re actually physically out in the field knocking on doors, businesses, washing cars, to raise money that’s directly out of our pockets to go to the regional and also the World Series.”

James Cox is a parent of Bryce Cox with the team and he tells Fox23 that the players wouldn’t be where they are today if it wasn’t for financial help along the way. Cox Says that “It’s like what Wade said earlier, these kids most of them would not get this opportunity in regionals or World Series if it wasn’t for help, financial help you know it costs a lot to do this and instead of kids sitting at home on their phones I’d rather see him doing this than planning on their phones.”

Amelung says that “every dollar counts” if you want to help get the Revelers to the World Series here a link to find out about donating and more.
