Fire damaged home in Scott City

SCOTT CITY Mo. (KBSI) – A fire broke out around 4 o clock in the afternoon yesterday. Donna Patterson the home owner was at work when her house caught fire. Luckily no one was injured but Donna says she lost everything.

Patterson works at a school where she takes care of disabled children. Three of the kids were living with Patterson. She says her heart goes out to the kids she can no longer provide a home for.

“My son just passed away ten months ago, his name was Blake and I lost a lot of his stuff and that really hurt me the worst. Knowing that them three handicap kids cuz Blake was handicap and knowing that them three handicap kids don’t have a place to live no more and it really bothers me, and I feel like it’s my fault even though it’s not.”
