Marion police look for man after 1 injured in shooting

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – Marion police ask for the public’s help finding a man wanted for questioning after a person was injured in a shooting Monday night.

The Marion Police Department received a 911 call around 8:07 p.m. on July 29 reporting a shooting had just occurred in the 1800 block of N. State Street and someone had been shot.

Officers found a male with multiple gunshot wounds. They began rendering aid to the victim while simultaneously conducting a protective sweep of the area and canvassing for suspects.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is being treated for his injuries.

This incident is considered isolated.

Marion police identified a a man wanted for questioning as Jameson Z. Gibbs. He is described as an 18-year-old black man, 6 feet tall, 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who see Gibbs is asked to not approach him. Instead, call 911 or the Marion Police Department at 618-993-2124.

Gibbs should be considered armed and dangerous.
