Names released of 2 found dead in Franklin County ditch

BUCKNER Ill. (KBSI) – Authorities released the names of two men found dead in a ditch in Franklin County.

Jesse Davis, 35, of Mulkeytown and Michael P. Worley, 44 of Benton, Illinois. Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says there were related, but did not specify exactly how.

Sheriff Kyle Bacon says Brooklynn D. Carrothers, 26, of DuQuoin was driving a blue 2015 Buick Enclave southbound on Hwy. 14.

Early Wednesday morning at 6:23 in Franklin County, two people were found dead in a ditch on State Highway 14. Authorities were called to the scene and are working to figure out if this incident was a result of foul play or not.

Theodore White, a man traveling to southern Illinois for work, says what he witnessed this morning and how he will never forget.

“I just seen one of the bodies. One of them was on the street and the other was over there in the ditch. Several deputies and local departments were called out to State Highway Fourteen for a report of two people possible hit by a moving vehicle.

Right now, police believe they were walking along the side of the highway when they were hit, by the time they arrived, they were dead.

White says just recently being in Southern Illinois he is scared, as he can’t get the image out of his mind.

“They were just kind of balled up, you could just see the back of them and the other was off in the ditch. And they must’ve drug one of them probably about 30 feet.”

White says what he heard and how he knew something was seriously wrong.

“We just heard the ‘skurrttt’ this morning early like about 6 something this morning and we didn’t think nothing of it because they’re always driving crazy out here, but somebody was just walking, two people and they must’ve killed them.”Authorities are not releasing names at this time and are also saying they are still not sure if this was an accident or a crime.

Authorities are investigating the information they have found and are working to release more answers.
