Police arrest teenager after a car chase with 3 passengers

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KBSI) – Police observed a Honda car traveling 30 mph over the speed limit on Aug. 2 near 6:24 p.m.

After officers attempted a traffic stop the driver accelerated the vehicle near Ward Ave and County Road 362. It continued past residential areas and onto Interstate 55 overpass while driving recklessly. The Honda reached 116 mph before crashing into a guardrail near the Missouri/Tennessee border.

The 18-year-old driver was arrested and the three others in the vehicle denied medical treatment. No officers were injured during the pursuit.
