Eastbound lanes of East Main reopened after crash in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – The eastbound lanes of East Main in Carbondale are back open after one person was injured in a rollover crash Friday afternoon.

Carbondale police officers and firefighters responded to the intersection of East Main Street and North Giant City Road for a report of a traffic crash at 2:04 p.m. on Friday, August 9.

Officers say a driver traveling east on East Main Street swerved out the traffic lane and sideswiped another vehicle before rolling over.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for eastbound traffic on East Main Street during the crash investigation.

A passenger in the vehicle that rolled over was ejected and sustained a non-life-threatening injury. That person was taken by ambulance to the emergency room for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle that rolled over was cited for improper lane use and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
