FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A road in Franklin County will be closed for a ceremony on Tuesday to remember a fallen firefighter.

Yellow Banks Road will be closed to all traffic between IL State Highway 148 and Andy’s Road on Tuesday, August 13.

The closure will last from 9 a.m. until noon.

Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says the closure is necessary for the memorialization ceremony to recognize State Highway 148 through Christopher as the Firefighter Kody M. Vanfossan Memorial Highway.

Firefighter Vanfossan lost his life in 2019 fighting a fire in Christopher.

The renaming ceremony is open to the public and will take place at the intersection of Yellow Banks Road and State Highway 148 at 10 a.m.
