Back-to-school spending for 2024-25 expected to skyrocket
(KBSI) – While kids are heading back to class, parents are breaking the bank. This year spending skyrockets for back-to-school spending.
The average family this year is spending an average of $875, according to the National Retail Federation.
College students take spending to the next level with their supplies costing an average of $1300.
Many experts point to electronics as the culprit.
“The electronics are a much bigger portion of back-to-school college spending than they used to be,” said Katherine Cullen with the National Retail Federation. “Kids these days, whether they’re in elementary school, middle school or high school are usually attending class equipped with some sort of electronic device to aid in their learning.”
Parents can save money by stacking their sales with discounts.
