Caruthersville man dies in crash between backhoe, train in Hayti

HAYTI, Mo. (KBSI) – A Caruthersville man died in a crash between a backhoe and a train in Hayti on Tuesday.

Thomas B. Jackson, 37, of Caruthersville was driving a 2018 John Deer 310 SL Backhoe when Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers say he failed to yield to a locomotive train.

The crash happened at Gettings Lane in Hayti at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by Pemiscot County Coroner Brian Irions at 3:55 p.m.
