2 rescued from house fire in Sikeston

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Two people were rescued from a house fire in Sikeston early Wednesday morning.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 300 block of Kramer on August 21.

The first arriving officers saw smoke coming from the roof line and was told the caller was still inside the home seeking shelter in the basement.

Officers forced an exterior door open and could hear someone calling for help from inside the home.

Fire Division personnel arrived on scene and began searching for the person.

Two people were found inthe home and rescued.

They were turned over to the emergency medical services units at the scene and taekn to hospitals for smoke inhalation.

Sikeston DPS Sgt. Tyler Rowe says both people sustained serious injuries, but are in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation with the assistance of the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
