Woodlawn man facing reckless discharge of a firearm, domestic battery charges

WOODLAWN, Ill. (KBSI) – A Woodlawn man faces charges after sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots fired.

Paul E. Pfister, 58, faces charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and domestic battery.

Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired at 14252 N. Concordia Lane in Woodlawn around 8:16 p.m. on August 31.

Deputies made contact with a 66-year-old woman who reported her live-in boyfriend, identified as Pfister of the same address, was still in the home and armed.

Officers from the Mt. Vernon Police Department, troopers from the Illinois State Police and agents from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources responded to assist. They established a perimeter around the home, established communication with Pfister and tried to convince him to leave the home peacefully.

Sheriff’s deputies say   Pfister complied with the requests of the deputies, left the home and was arrested.

Pfister was first taken to Crossroads Hospital for assessment and then to the justice center.
