1 injured in officer-involved shooting in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – One person is injured after an officer-involved shooting in Franklin County on Thursday.
Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home near Buckner on September 5 around 1:55 p.m.
They began speaking with the suspect and saw the suspect had a firearm.

Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon say the suspect refused to comply with orders and showed the firearm. Sheriff Bacon says a deputy fired his handgun and struck the suspect.

AMR Ambulance and Air Evac were requested to respond.

The suspect was airlifted to an out-of-state trauma center.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

Illinois State Police are investigating.
