Nearby accidental shooting leads to school lockdown in Doniphan

DONIPHAN, Mo. (KBSI) – Doniphan police say a shooting near Doniphan R-1 Schools that caused a lockdown at the school on Tuesday was accidental.

On September 10, 2024, at 12:47 pm the Doniphan Police Department received a report of a gunshot victim.

According to the Doniphan Police Department Facebook page, the victim was found on Apricot Street which led responding officers to advise a lockdown of Doniphan R-1 schools until the scene was secured.

At 1:05 p.m. the scene was secured and normal school activities continued.

Police say the shooting was an accidential self-inflicted injury.

No children or staff at the school were in danger.

Police officers confirmed the scene was secure and normal school activities resumed at 3:05 p.m.
