Kentucky man faces manslaughter charge

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A man was indicted this week by the McCracken County Grand Jury involving an incident from May.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office on May 21, 2024, at 2:41 pm the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Kentucky Dam Road (US 62) and Eagles Nest Drive regarding a vehicle vs. motorcycle wreck.
Gordon Smith aged 63, of Kuttawa, Kentucky was operating a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, eastbound on Kentucky Dam Road.
Benny Green aged 70 of Paducah, Kentucky was operating a 2012 Buick Enclave, crossing over Kentucky Dam Road from Eagles Nest Drive.
The motorcycle collided broadside with the Buick in the eastbound lanes of Kentucky Dam Road.
Smith was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Green was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Since the incident occurred the collision has been under investigation.
The case was presented in front of the McCracken County Jury last week which led to an indictment on Benny Green for the charges of Man Slaughter in the 2cd degree and Operating on a suspended license.
Green was arrested this week and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
