Illinois deputies find crystal meth while conducting a traffic stop

CREAL SPRIGGS, Ill. (KBSI) – Two people have been arrested for methamphetamine in Creal Springs.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on September 30 at 11:37 pm Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies saw a vehicle traveling on Union Street in Creal Springs when it committed multiple traffic violations.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and found contraband in the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle located a white crystal-like substance which later field tested positive for Methamphetamine.

The driver -Michelle L. Choate and passenger, – Michael K. Mitchell were arrested.

Choate was cited for the following:
Possession of Methamphetamine
(Class 3 Felony)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
(Class A Misdemeanor)
Possession Of Adult Use Cannabis In A Motor Vehicle
(Class A Misdemeanor)
Failure To Signal When Required
Mitchell was cited for the following:
Possession of Methamphetamine
(Class 3 Felony)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
(Class A Misdemeanor)
Both were taken to the Williamson County Jail
