Stoddard County man sentenced to 20 Years for Rape and Child Pornography Charges

STODDARD COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A Stoddard County man, Patrick D. Varner of Bloomfield has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree rape and attempted rape charges.

Varner also received the maximum sentence for statutory rape and child pornography charges, totaling 14 additional years.

Prosecuting Attorney Sawyer Smith stated, “Justice has been served… The defendant will serve a lengthy prison term and register as a Tier III sex offender for life, prioritizing community awareness, protection, and crime prevention.”

The Dexter Police Department’s investigative work was commended.
