Deputies arrest suspect in Ste. Genevieve arrow shooting

STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY (KBSI)- On October 9, 2024, Ste. Genevieve deputies responded to a radio call about a shooting involving a male victim struck in the chest with an arrow.
Upon arrival, they found a white male with an arrow lodged in his chest, who was subsequently flown to a St. Louis hospital.
The victim and a witness had traveled from Illinois to Missouri to purchase cigarettes at the BP gas station.
After leaving, they were followed by a group of younger individuals who had been at the store.
The witness reported that the followers drove alongside them, honking and flashing lights, causing them to fear for their safety.
When the truck’s rear window shattered, the victim realized they had been shot.
Deputies reviewed surveillance footage from the BP gas station, identifying a suspect vehicle and potential suspects.
They located the shooting scene on Highway 61, finding shards of glass and evidence consistent with witness statements.
Further investigation led them to the suspect’s vehicle, registered to an individual in Ste. Genevieve County.
A juvenile witness came forward, stating they drove the suspect’s vehicle and alleged the suspect used a crossbow to shoot the arrow.
Deputies apprehended the suspect, who provided consistent statements during the interview.
The suspect was placed on a 24-hour hold pending arrest warrant application.
