One arrested in Sikeston shooting investigation

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – One man is in custody in relation to a shooting incident in Sikeston that took place earlier this week.

According to officers with Sikeston DPS on Monday October 21, 2024, Sikeston DPS was made aware of multiple gun shots in the 800 block of W. Gladys.

When officers arrived on scene, they were informed a person had been shot. The person was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injury. Officers and Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit began an investigation.

On Wednesday October 23, 2024, Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit got a warrant from the Scott County Judicial Court.

Detectives were able to identify and arrest, 30-year-old, Demarlon M. Richardson, of Sikeston, as one of the people who fired a firearm in the 800 block of W. Gladys on the night of October 21, 2024.

Richardson was arrested and is being held on a no bond warrant and faces charges of Unlawful use of Weapon (Class A Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Class C Felony).
This incident is still being actively investigated by the Criminal Investigations Unit.
