One dead after rollover crash

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – One person is dead after a roll over crash in Jackson County.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department on Monday November 4, 2024 around 2:21 am the sheriff’s office received a report of a single vehicle crash on route 3 in the area of Big Lake Road in rural Jackson County.

After arrival deputies say evidence shows that a maroon 2001 Ford Taurus was operated by Dalton J. McCarty age 20 of Murphysboro when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned, ejecting McCarty from the vehicle.

McCarty was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Route 3 was closed for around 2 and a half hours during the traffic crash.

Jackson County ambulance service and Ava Fire Department assisted on scene.
