TSA agents locate drugs at Southern Illinois airport

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man was arrested after being caught with drugs at an airport.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on October 29, 2024, around 6:30 am Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois.

After arrival Deputies discovered that while conducting a security screening TSA agents located 18 grams of Methamphetamine, Cannabis, and Drug Paraphernalia in a passenger’s checked baggage.
The baggage belonged to Derrick D. Thompson.
Thompson was arrested faces charges of Possession of Methamphetamine- Class 2 Felony.
Thompson was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
